Seems to be crowdsourcing is gaining a significant buzz in mainstream media. Previously Gannet and few other US newspapers company declare their plan to utilizing crowdsourcing for collecting informations. But seems to be the mainstream across Atlantic are one step ahead of US mainstream, while they are planning Britons BBC already implemented it.

The BBC is now going to pay for citizen journalist reports, according to an article published in Editors weblog. To encourage crowd sourcing the payment would be a significant element. BBC will pay every citizen journalist who’s content will aired. Editors weblog:

BBC staff can now issue payments for footage from cell phones or digital cameras. But “we do not want to give people the impression that we will pay for hundreds of pieces of user-generated content,” said Vicky Taylor, BBC’s head of interactivity.

Likewise, Britain’s Channel Five recently announced it would pay GBP 100 for any user content it aired.

This could be the opening of a new dimension in journalism, we are already well popular of bloggism (not my site name :P, the real bloggism) what is next crowdism. Democratic form of news sourcing might cause some issues too, like the social networking sites are facing (copyright content aired). If mainstream media can check this one problem, crowdsourcing will be the next generation news source no doubt on that.
