MS Unified Communications,What to expect?
Lately Microsoft and Cisco were having quite a bit head to head battle for VoIP dominance, especially since Cisco’s acquisition of Webex a few months ago. Webex is the market leader in hosted Web conferencing. But now that Microsoft Acquires Tellme Networks, the battle got sweeter, or should I say hotter. On May 3rd, Microsoft announced that it has completed its acquisition of Tellme, the Mountain View, Calif.-based provider of voice services for everyday life, including nationwide (US) directory assistance, enterprise customer service and voice-enabled mobile search. So why not we check out MS Unified Communications, Microsoft’s system that unites all existing communication systems and tools. I have to agree, the idea of uniting all kind of communication systems into one whole integrated system is impressive. A lot of communication giants most probably thinking about it. But Microsoft already tears down the barrier that separate tale-communications and computing. And they do it with software that leverages your existing telecommunications infrastructure. In plain words MS Unified Communications (UC), work as a communication hub/centre. For example- Voice-mail/faxes arrive in your Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 inbox where you can sort, prioritize, and forward them, just like any piece of e-mail. And when you’re…
Acrobat Connect professional
About a decade ago virtual meeting, conferencing was just an idea, now that idea not only came into reality but as well flourishing and expending beyond traditional boundaries. A lot of conferencing application/software you will find now which offers us rich arrays of features and functionality to make virtual meeting almost as realistic as the real one. We even have VR (Virtual Reality) conference in Second Life. Sounds the situation is pretty much cool right? But I am afraid it isn’t. When it comes to cost-effective, organized total conferencing solution that you can rely on, only a handful of them will be in your list of choice. First of all you have to understand we are talking about professional solution that fits the needs of from small business to corporation, not individual/personal. For personal solution I am still happy with my Skype, there are plenty more to choose from. Now days a most business needs not only a tele/web conferencing as well as a collaboration method integrated with the solution. Very few software/application currently poses that, if not costumed tailored. Last month I talked about “Microsoft Office Live Meeting”, which is one of the few solutions that made it to…
Online collaboration tools- Series B
Sponsored Link In our last set of collaboration tools review we featured two of the most outstanding free online collaboration app. But if you think your choice is just limited to those two only, you are seriously mistaken. There are a bunch of app/software out there which are free (Partial or full). So our intended target would be seek and analyze their offers, pros and cons. Thank you all of who provided their valued feedback through comments (on previous series) as well as via email. Though my plan was to put up the self hosted collaboration tools on the spotlight, but I decided that would be incomplete. So I intended to continue this sequence and feature as much as collaboration tools possible both hosted and self hosted. So without further due: Huddle Huddle offer hosted solution of collaboration and project management which managed by a UK based company, Ninian Solutions Ltd. Huddle is based on .Net framework, so naturally clean looks and smooth performance will catch your eyes. Huddle improved comparatively very well over time, which is just a little bit more than one year old. They have both paid and free price line, which will suit all level of…

As a developer I naturally lean towards Firefox when it comes to browser choice. But Opera 9.2 Web browser is something to take note of, you have to like it regardless of your open source love or hate. Opera 9.2 is a cross platform browser. You will be shocked, if I say Opera 9.2 supports almost all the popular OS, which are not supported by IE or FF. Opera 9.2 is compatible with- Windows, Solaris Sparc, Solaris Intel, QNX, OS/2, MacOS, Linux Sparc, Linux PowerPC, Linux i386, FreeBSD i386, BeOS. MS Live Meeting, promising yet pricey
Last month (I.e. May 2007) Microsoft announced Expression Suit and Silverlight, which will be competing (most probably) with Adobe‘s creative suite and Flash. Though I still noticed flash in Microsoft’s site . Microsoft is quietly putting the moves on Adobe’s other popular consumer technology, the Portable Document Format (PDF). XML Paper Specification, or XPS — Microsoft’s new rival to PDF — the Redmond company is making the software for free to both consumers and pros. The rivalry didn’t stop there. Adobe’s Acrobat Connect Professional, the state of the art hosted Web conferencing service is the next target of MS. Live Meeting 2007, Microsoft’s updated hosted Web conferencing service, will be available this fall. With this latest update, now Live Meeting shares more common code with its blood-brother, Office Communications Server 2007, which is in beta now and expected to RTM this summer and be broadly available in the fall. Live Meeting has its heredity in Placeware, which Microsoft acquired in 2003. While majority part of Placeware’s technology was in Java and UNIX, the bulk of the current code base will now be Microsoft-centric. New perks of Live Meeting: 360-degree video when used with Microsoft’s upcoming Office RoundTable 2007, a commercial…
Free Web authoring tools that gets the job done
Web authoring tools,Applications,Free web page design,Software There is nothing like Adobe CS3 Web Premium, MS Expression suit (Most probably) when it comes to web authoring. But it’s also true these are good enough when you have it, not many web authors affords £1,400+ (CS3 Web Premium) or £1,000+(TBA- Expression Suit). These two feature rich suit is more than everything you need for web authoring, development, but that doesn’t mean without these web authoring have to be troublesome. So here goes three free tools (PC only, have to research some more for MAC) that might not be as Dreamweaver or Expression Web, but do the job just fine. Fearsome cat unleashed-Mac OSX Leopard
In the rubble of Microsoft’s greatest creation Windows Vista, another great OS has been lost the focus. The geeks, analysts, news are so busy with Vista, that we forgot MAC OSX –Leopard is also coming out. And no way you can say MAC OSX-Leopard is anyway less innovative than Vista. I agree world’s 75% of computer use, the dominant behemoth Microsoft windows one way or another. But Apple engineering was the first to introduce a operating system that support both Mac and Intel PC, that was MAC OSX-Tiger. Not only over 200 new features but don’t forget the price comparison. Latest Mac OSX cost only $129 on the other hand the chipset Vista $199 (the home basic-not all features are included). The Aero interface in Vista we are crazy about, already available in MAC OSX-Tiger. No doubt that MAC OSX-Leopard will bring the Mac user to the next level of computing, as PC users are expecting from Vista. Mac OS are may be not the most popular OS on earth, but sure they are ground-breaking and bringing innovative ideas into life. Key features of MAC OSX-Leopard that will spin your head for sure: Boot Camp- Let you install Windows XP…
