Start building apps for iOS
Interested in Mobile application development? You should be- whether it is for your business, startup or professional needs. Apple’s iPad is predicted to rule throughout 2011 and better half of 2012, which happens to be most promising mobile/tablet platform as of now. So as you can see it’s a great time to crack on to some iOS application right about now. If you are entrepreneur might be a fine time for a child project flavored around iOS, if you are a developer very good time to start on iOS (if already haven’t done so). Why? Apple released a fifth beta version of iOS 5 to developers last Friday, which is kind of odd as Apple usually does this over the weekdays not last day of the week. The release notes suggest this include some fixes but no major features, apart from a Hearing Aid Mode designed to improve compatibility between iOS devices and hearing aids. Android is an awesome platform but for freelance developer just to bank on only one platform and leave the other promising one isn’t such a great move. Today’s financial crunch requires you to be expert in multiple platforms, in order to sell your service more…
Missing Children App for iPhone by FBI
This isn’t the first time Government agency’s (most notably US & UK) launching iPhone/iPad application to reach out to public. Ever since the emergence of iPhone, different government agencies around the globe tried to harness the power and reach out to popular i (Phone and Pad) users. Now the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) has just released its very first mobile app, for helping parents deal with their worst nightmare, “missing a child”. Obviously this is a step forward to arm parents with right needed info at the time of worst case scenario for quicker law enforcement reporting. Child ID app—the first mobile application created by the FBI, provides a convenient place to electronically store photos and vital information about user’s children so that it’s literally right at hand if need arise. According to FBI – the FBI (and iTunes for that matter) is not collecting or storing any photos or information that you enter in the app. All data resides solely on your mobile device unless you need to send it to authorities. Please read your mobile provider’s terms of service for information about the security of applications stored on your device. –credit: FBI News Stories So that means…
Online game economy
Video Gaming industry hasn’t been this popular ever, average video game users are just climbing up by minutes. Video game industry is already a huge economical power house and it’s getting huger. The scenario is a lot different than what its used to be 5 years ago. Console games are not making money, while online and mobile games are taking over the market. Currently online and mobile games generates about 35% of total game industries revenue, and it’s market share growing. The way it’s going Consol game will be a relic like thingy in near future. So why is such a boom we are seeing in gaming economy? Console games revenue model was typical selling the game model, which don’t exactly fit for today’s gaming economy. On the other hand today’s online and mobile games got strong revenue models, based on user demand & supply rather than sales revenue, well most of them. For example- FarmVille, created by Zynga, an online gaming company based in San Francisco, has become a web phenomenon, played by more than 56 million people within three months of its launch, making it the fastest-growing social game on the internet. After the United States, Britain has…
End of Kin, signs of Microsoft’s struggle
Two years in creating, one and a half months in market with a cute little unique name, with stylish design and emphasized on trendy social network tools couldn’t save Kin from crashing. Just for the intro ‘Kin’ is the smart phone device that supposed to prove that Microsoft could build the right product at the right time for the ever changing tech savvy youngsters. But surprisingly less than two months after the Kin’s arrived in stores, Microsoft decided to kill it. Most probably the fastest ever end of a product by a tech giant. It’s not that “Kin” is Microsoft’s first flop, Kin just made the long list of MSFT product failure- from watches to music players, a bit longer. But most of its flop got some chance and time before got killed, even the super flop “Vista” survived over 3 years, but Kin which might be the image savior for MSFT got barely any chance. Kin fiasco is an echo of Microsoft’s skirmish to deliver what the technology-obsessed new generation consumers wants. From hand-held products to business software, Microsoft seems racing with times, and falling far behind. First issue there is very few who want to develop for Microsoft….

Microsoft’s shakeup, new possibilities!
Microsoft planning on a shakeup that will split its mobile and gaming business into two sections, which was not supposed to be together in the first place. This an attempt to reclaim a leading position in the Smartphone market, a position that’s largely slipped away in the face of competition from Apple and Google. There is a good possibility that this shakeup could unleash the company’s mobile device efforts. Now the million dollar question is, whether this decision is on time or too late. In this shakeup Robbie Bach, president of the entertainment and devices group (Microsoft’s highest paid executive), will retire from Microsoft later this year, the company announced Tuesday. Bach won’t be replaced. Instead the two deputy executives who head both units will report directly to Ballmer from June 1st, 2010. Microsoft was being outpaced, out-developed and out-marketed by longtime rivals such as Apple, and even worse by brand-new mobile platforms like Android. First Apple’s widely successful iPhone and then Google’s Android mobile OS, it’s seems Microsoft’s nightmare is a never ending epic. Its aging Windows Mobile platform was, and is, shrinking in market share. Which Microsoft certainly wishes to change and make a dramatic comeback! The good…
JavaFX is now mobile
Growing admiration and success of Apple’s application store sparked concerns among Apple’s rivals that they are falling short of edge. Inevitably this fuels up their research and craves for something similar or better. In this endeavour Sun Microsystems came up with a mobile platform that enables developers to create iPhone-like apps for a wide variety of handsets. The JavaFX Mobile platform which launched yesterday (Thursday, 13th February 2009) will allow developers to create rich applications across the broadest possible range of mobile devices, from consumer handsets to smart phones. Without any doubt this was something a lot of developer’s were longing for. Well before we carried away with joy let’s see what this JavaFX is (or what it intends to accomplish). JavaFX Mobile is a platform, which will allow mobile developers to create apps that have high-definition audio and video, animation, vector graphics, rich text, and off course access to Web services. The platform runs on top of the Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME), which is available on most of the mobile phones, including low-end phones and high-end smart phones. JavaFX Mobile, which makes its formal debut next week during GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, won’t be replacing…
