In the rubble of Microsoft’s greatest creation Windows Vista, another great OS has been lost the focus. The geeks, analysts, news are so busy with Vista, that we forgot MAC OSX –Leopard is also coming out. And no way you can say MAC OSX-Leopard is anyway less innovative than Vista. I agree world’s 75% of computer use, the dominant behemoth Microsoft windows one way or another. But Apple engineering was the first to introduce a operating system that support both Mac and Intel PC, that was MAC OSX-Tiger. Not only over 200 new features but don’t forget the price comparison. Latest Mac OSX cost only $129 on the other hand the chipset Vista $199 (the home basic-not all features are included). The Aero interface in Vista we are crazy about, already available in MAC OSX-Tiger. No doubt that MAC OSX-Leopard will bring the Mac user to the next level of computing, as PC users are expecting from Vista. Mac OS are may be not the most popular OS on earth, but sure they are ground-breaking and bringing innovative ideas into life.
Key features of MAC OSX-Leopard that will spin your head for sure:
- Boot Camp- Let you install Windows XP and MAC OSX-Leopard together in your MAC.
- Time Machine-With Mac OS X Leopard and Time Machine, not only can you back up and preserve everything on your Mac — including priceless digital photos, music, movies, and documents — without lifting a finger, you can go back in time to recover anything you’ve ever backed up. The first time you attach an external drive to a Mac running Mac OS X Leopard, Time Machine asks if you’d like to back up to that drive. Set up the drive and Time Machine takes care of everything else, automatically, in the background, so you can get on with your digital life. Very fancy and neat stuff what you say?:P
- 64 Bit- Yes you may say Windows already did it in XP. But this one is a little more than the 64-bit we saw in XP. Leopard delivers 64-bit power in one, universal OS. Now Cocoa and Carbon application frameworks, as well as graphics, scripting, and the rest of the system are all 64-bit. Leopard delivers 64-bit power to both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs, so you don’t have to install separate applications for different machines. There’s only one version of Mac OS X, so you don’t need to maintain separate operating systems for different uses. How is that? That’s call universality, really closing the gaps between operating platform.
- Core animation-Core Animation lets Mac developers create applications and experiences as groundbreaking as Spaces and Time Machine, without needing to know esoteric graphics and math techniques. Core Animation takes advantage of the multiple cores in most new Intel-based Macs. When developers use the framework for an application, the process runs in its own thread. On a multi-core Mac, this means the application runs on one core and Core Animation on the other. Usually last few years the entire Mac shipped are powered with Intel Core duo.
- Dashboard-We all know about widgets, but this time Mac brings it on desktop. Mac OS X Tiger introduced first Dashboard, a wonderful world of widgets that perform common tasks and give you fast access to information on the Web. With Mac OS X Leopard, you get even more widgets, plus .Mac syncing that keeps all your Dashboard preferences on all your Macs. All can be control by a single option panel preference. You can build up your custom widget too; unleash your creativity with OSX-Leopard.
Ichat, Imail, Spaces are still available and with more vigorous options and customizable. From my analysis and beta test, MAC OSX-Leopard run faster than its predecessor even with loads of multitasks. Superb graphical user interface and silk aero style dynamic navigation will give freedom to the users. So do not be surprised if MAC OSX-Leopard gets all the spot light when it will be in the market. It may not be used in 75% computer in the world, but sure it will give Apple a new image of creativity, innovation and technical excellence.
