I was writing an article on Sony VIO- VGN-UX280P, than a friend notified me there maybe another newer UX series Sony planning to release. Well what you know they already released it in Japan and Middle East, world’s smallest computer UX17GP. After thorough search and translation from Japanese I came up with so much so much incredible features of UX17GP that I am floating. It’s a size of a PDA, but the functionality no less than a high performance laptop, mobile and communicator together. Sony introduces its VIO HDD protection feature in this series. VAIO UX protects your precious data in more ways than one. When the built-in 3D acceleration sensor senses shakes and/or shocks, VAIO HDD Protection places the HDD head in a safe position to prevent important data loss caused by disk damage. In environments where vibrations cannot be avoided, such as in a car or on a train, sensitivity can be set to “low” so that VAIO HDD Protection won’t get engaged unnecessarily. If VAIO HDD Protection detects any threatening movements, an alert balloon will appear on your desktop. Equally important, to protect your data from unauthorized access, VAIO UX features Hard Disk Password. By requiring password authentication for the hard disk itself, this security measure helps prevent information leakage in the event of loss or theft. Now that’s call redefining computing. A communicator, a camera, a phone and computer in just one small thing, looks like we are after all heading towards Star-trek age, thanks to Sony.

Additionally needless to mention as usual configuration like Ethernet cards, infrared pointer etc. Now you can say have you ever seen any upcoming notebook with that much features? I don’t recall seeing one. But some issues have to be reconsider like high tech configuration is one thing and performance is another. Without some real experiments you can never see the difference, Sony will yet to announce the release in US and other places.
