What is RSS Feed?
Real simple syndication (RSS) is a relatively new and easy way to distribute content via the Internet. For email marketers, it is a way to distribute messages while avoiding spam filters. Typical applications include email newsletters, blogs or even Web sites. Similar to newsgroups, RSS feeds require a special “reader” like Bloglines or NewsGator to view messages. Though recently lot’s of email programs and browser are build/upgraded to facilitate reading RSS.
Why RSS Feed submission important for blog?
Blog is a frequent updated reverse chronological website/ web contents. And RSS feed deliver the freshest contents/summary to the reader. So RSS of your blog is the best way to let your reader knows what’s going on in your blog. If your blogs sets to automatically ping weblog or any other pinging service, it took only few seconds to let your readers know if any new post has been made or any update. RSS technology is used by all the news agencies to deliver their freshest contents to their readers why not use it for your readers too.
RSS sounds too much geeky. Is it really for everyone?
Relax mates it may sounds geeky, but there is nothing geeky to take advantage of it to promote your blog. If you are using any community based blog, you are saved from all the trouble all of them have RSS feed link. All you have to do use copy that link and submit to as many feed directories as you can. Just search for “Feed Directory” in Google, see how many of them come up. Now if you are blogging using independent blog software in your own domain/ sub-domain, just read the instruction manual (feed/syndication section) where you will find easily the feed location of your blog. So see there isn’t anything geeky/techno stuffs to use RSS feed.
