“How to make your Blog seen?”, question is very common for every bloggers. Because there are millions of blogs written every day, lots of them are very quality content and unique. But majority of them are visited by only handful of readers. It’s a major letdown for a blogger who spend so much time to build up quality content, but no one there to read it. What’s the use of writing if there is no one to read it? Not only from the perspective of bloggers who blog for fun, also from the perspective of a professional blogger this situation is frustrating. Imagine a blogger who follow each and every ethics of blog, develop unique content, put up lots of time to bring quality in writing but due to lack of visibilities, naturally his/her blog will be just another long lost dead webpage. Off course the first priority of a blogger is to develop a quality content, but making that as much as possible searchable is not a lesser priority.

We have known the word SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for a long time, whether we can understand it or not. Thousands of commercial webpage has been around who give SEO tips in exchange of fees. In many cases I have noticed, they provided you with bunch of keywords and advice you to create back links (Some Other Website that have a URL point towards your site/Blog) etc. Building up content is still up to you, using those keywords sets. But as we all know, peoples tests change, their demand change so is their search terms in search engines. So naturally if you want to make better SEO of your Blog or site, you have to go with the flow. Not only search engine search can bring your blog into light, there are directories, RSS even referral links. I have read a dozen of e-books and books regarding SEO but unfortunately its too long articles, too much complexity which is hard to understand or follow. I fully understand SEO isn’t a child’s play, but it doesn’t have to be a hard nut to crack either. It can be simpler, understandable. I build up some guidelines which is very easy to understand and follow, even for non-technical people. It maybe not give you the biggest SEO boost, but sure it will give you a start, later on you will understand by yourself what you have to do.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization Guidelines)

  1. Keep your blog simple; write the way you like to write. Disregard keywords which aren’t appropriate with your contents. Remember quality first.
  2. If you are blogging in non-community sites in your own sub-domain or domain, than try to avoid Java script (Search Engines Skip that part) as much as possible. Best search engine friendly practice is to use HTML or PHP. Make sure you do not use frames; I have tested neither Google nor Yahoo even Alexa do not crawl well in framed page.
  3. Keep a robots.txt file in your domain/sub domain. Best practice is to put a sitemap (in XML or txt) together with robots.txt file in the same directory of your blog. This will make the search engine crawler to crawl your site as often and faster.
  4. Keep your blogs interlinked. If you have your own domain or sub-domain sitemap do the trick. But if not, than better make your blogs interlinked which gives the crawler to crawl your all blogs even if it’s looking for just a single word.
  5. Did you know that why a blog is visited more by search engine robots compare to a static website? “Update”-that’s the only reason. As often you update your blog, search engine crawl your blog to get the update. So keep your blog updated, whenever you have time, just update. But make sure you post new topics rather than duplicated contents.
