Chinese blogging boom
The number of bloggers in China has soared to 19.87 million in early November, up 24 per cent over a year ago, a report by a leading Chinese Internet company said. The figure represents a 24-per cent rise over from the 16 million people who wrote their own blogs at the end of November last year, the company said. Bloggers updated their blogs every 7.6 days on an average and 3.02 million were active bloggers who posted new writings within seven days. Just 4.6 per cent of web writers updated their blogs every day. The number of blog service providers rose nearly 55 per cent in the past year to 1,460. Qzone, which was run by Tencent, had the most bloggers and visitors. It was followed by Sina.com, MSN Spaces and Sohu.com. However, the growth in the number of Chinese bloggers slowed over the past year, leading to 20 per cent of the top 100 providers to abandon the service. Professional blogs specializing in topics such as medicine and education grew rapidly in the past year. Baidu, the Internet search company released its first report on Chinese bloggers last December. The company plans to launch a special blog search service…
Vista Wireless access vs. power
Users running Windows Vista on laptops may see batteries draining faster than they expect, Microsoft said in a warning, because some wireless access points aren’t configured to take advantage of the new operating system’s Wi-Fi power-saving mode. In a recent post to Microsoft’s official Vista blog, senior product manager Jason Leznek spelled out the company’s last-minute decision to change the default power setting of wireless adapters to “maximum performance.” “Test results from Microsoft and our customers show that some Windows Vista beta users experienced connectivity problems when connecting to public Wi-Fi hotspots,” wrote Leznek in his post. “In many cases, the root cause of the problem is access point or router hardware which is not compatible with the 802.11 power save protocol.” Rather than leave the wireless access card in “power save” mode — which reduces battery drain by periodically putting the card to sleep — Microsoft switched the default to a more power-intensive mode, one usually reserved for times when the laptop is connected to AC power, Leznek noted. “However, this power savings scheme for 802.11 wireless adapters depends on cooperation of the access point,” Leznek wrote. “The problem is that many access points do not implement or support the…

Samsung Electronics Co., South Korea’s largest corporation, joined Microsoft Corp. on Monday in launching the first mobile phone in Asia and Europe to use high-speed HSDPA wireless technology. The companies said the phone “the Samsung Ultra Messaging i600†was the world’s thinnest 3G smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. Ultrathin MacBook pro rumor
As Macworld creeps up on us (only a month away now!), rumors of the iPhone and what features the iTV will have aren’t enough for the Mac web. Because of this, in comes the smaller, ultrathin MacBook Pro rumor, which claims that there will be a new iteration of MacBook Pro that will use the 12-inch form factorâ€â€I can hear throngs of 12″ PowerBook users cheering in the distanceâ€â€as well as be much thinner and much lighter than its current design. Supposedly, this tiny, thin machine will keep its optical drive (how?) and also sport a dual-core processor. MacScoop also believes that the laptop will be $1700-$1800 after having discussions with “well-informed” people. If such a laptop were to come into existence, it would be the first ultrathin, ultrasmall notebook from Apple with a fair amount of oomph behind it. Does anybody believe this rumor to be true? While I know that we all want to believe it, there is relatively little information to go off of and only one website reporting it to be “true” so far. It does seem as if Apple would do well in the sub-notebook market, but do they really want to add yet another…
Five must have WP plugin
Over the course of time WordPress has changed a lot so are the plugins associated with it. If you compare WordPress’s earlier versions and the latest one, you will notice it’s completely different. Lots of plugins that used to work with WordPress 1.1 are no longer worked with WordPress 2+. Some of those are even no longer needed, as WordPress already have those within. Not every plugins you find in WordPress is worth adding; some of them are even irritating and might cause you a lot of trouble. In my opinion these five plugins are must have kind, because of usability, flexibilities not to mention the usefulness. WordPress 2.0 Plugin: WP-DBManager This is at the top of my list, every time I set up a blog the first plugin I will install is always this one. This plugin allows you to optimize database, backup database, restore database, delete backup database and run selected queries. Remember everything you do in your blog stored in database, and in case something goes wrong with this you are doom. Yes by default WordPress 2+ have a built in plugin for database backup, but for flexibilities and maintenance I prefer this one. This gives you…
Bloggism Upgrade
As a part of my experiment, long time i was trying to bring all my blogs (wherever i write) under one center hub. Few days ago i had some break through. So i decided that this is time for “bloggism” to have an upgrade. This upgrade will help user getting posts from every blog i write or own. It won’t bring the posts for you, will just give a title link, means all integrated together. I have added some user features too, which i want to give as a surprise (especially my feed subscribers). The new integration and design will be roll out on Monday. For the mean time the flow of my postings might not be regular, as you you know i have to work on the system. I promise i will make it up to you. Check back regular for updates and if you have any ideas or suggestion what should be included in upgrade, let me know.
Business blogging abc’s
Business blogging is a bit different than the traditional blogging we do. Business blogging is one kind of corporate blogging where the focus is gaining business advantage. Unlike traditional corporate blogging, business blogging does not limit to blog on its products and service only. Recent year’s blog has become so powerful that business opportunity seeker using it more often. In business blog a corporation/or entity hire professional/ entrepreneur bloggers to blog for them following their directions. Though the bloggers have complete freedom on his/her writings but subject matters are mostly selected/chosen by the employer. Those blogs drives interested readers and possible business advantage to the employer. Blogger of business blog either paid a fixed salary or contract basis.Clarity blog’s goals and objectives are similarly important in traditional and business blog. If I was being hired by a company to develop a blog I would work very hard at finding that company’s expectations for the blog out before starting it. The best practice would be doing research, lots of it. My sense in many of the questions that I’m being asked by bloggers and by business people wanting to hire bloggers is that many business blogs are being started simply because…
Change Your blogger template
Why google’s blogger is such a failure? Not that it don’t have enough tools for users or its technologically backward. It’s just cause thousands of Bloggers on Blogspot.com are either too lazy or don’t understand or learn the basic HTML tags. When you create a new blog on Blogger.com, Google provides a default blogspot template that has three links in the side bar – one link points to Google News while the other two links (Edit-Me) are just placeholders for the blogger to insert his own hyperlinks. But bloggers are too busy creating content and don’t bother changing these “under construction” areas. There are a large portion of pages hosted on blogspot.com that still have the Google News and Edit Me links [site:blogspot.com "Google News" "Edit-Me"] 1<h2 class="sidebar-title">Links</h2><br /><ul><br /><li><a href="http://news.google.com/">Google News</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://EDITME">Edit-Me</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://EDITME">Edit-Me</a></li><br /></ul> If your blog also falls in this category, my suggestion would be that you first read the W3 Schools tutorial on HTML and CSS. Once you have a certain comfort level with your blogger template code, throw the default blogspot template in the recycle bin and switch to a more professional design. Fortunately, there are lot of good folks who have developed some beautiful blogger…
