Google has been at the forefront of search engine race since its birth, hack that was the only thing they used to do when they started out. Ever since they were the king of the search, outshining Yahoo, MSN etc. But over the course of time, Google started to focus on other stuffs and their search engine started to lose the limelight. No doubt still Google search dominate the web, but it’s not uncontested any longer, especially Microsoft’s Bing throwing quite a bit challenge for Google. So in order to reclaim the glory of uncontested king of the search Google decided to overhaul its search engine and system by adding Semantic Search. Semantic Search is more like a component of Semantic Web, which is intended to return more meaningful result of search term. By introducing Semantic Search Google intended to redefine what search is now, which will also bring us one step closer to Artificial Intelligence (AI) in search. Well that’s the plan at least. .XXX domain name which recently goes on for public sale proving to be one of the hot commodities on the net. Since the first .xxx URLs were released on restricted sale in September there have been some 100,000 purchases of the domain names. According to ICANN .XXX sites supposed to be a safer alternative to those available online at present and that they will benefit from daily malware scanning from security protection software. But a lot of expert believes that this creating a “monopoly” and is “anti-competitive”. In theory grouping porn sites together under the .xxx domain for the purpose of providing simultaneously protection of porn-viewers and the protection of those who don’t want porn is certainly very welcoming. Google over the years experimented with lots of products with different paradigm. Some were to give the user more complete web experience one way or another relate to its flagship products like – Gmail, Search engine, Chrome, Analytics. On the other hand some were simply its own version of popular products to give others run for their money or just to prove we can do better. It even acquires several products over the year – like most software giants do, to expand its product base. But as we all know you can’t be good at everything, some of Google’s experiment paid off some didn’t, and some didn’t even make it to count as viable product. Well that’s the game isn’t it, keep innovating –otherwise you won’t keep up with the flow of tide of technology. So what you do when you have lots of nonproductive stuffs in the house? Don’t tell me even for once you didn’t thought how cool it would be to have that movie like projected video calls, messages and info flashing right before your eyes. Well careful what you wish for! That fantasy has come to life. Maybe not as much as like awesome sci-fi movies, but some of its concept came to reality thanks to Seattle’s Washington University. According to Washington University’s research scientist involved with this technology’s research says – “A new generation of contact lenses that project images in front of the eyes is a step closer after successful animal trials”. Like real life terminator this technology will allow this special contact lenses user to read/view projected texts, emails and even augment their sight with computer-generated media. Totally fascinating stuff isn’t it? Imagine the potential & use case scenario of this- simply limitless. No doubt Law-enforcement & Military use of this technology can strengthen the chain of communication by tenfold. Couple of decades ago when computer gaming became popular, it created two things simultaneously – 1) A gaming economy 2) A platform/Launchpad. Now after few decades the no.2 has transformed into something different with the advancement of technology. This evolution of gaming from tabletop or field or imagination to computer screen, mobile devices and World Wide Web created a totally different stream of economy and created millions of jobs. In addition the Gaming as well turned itself into platform for traditional tabletop gaming, as well as gambling & erotic fantasies. Before digital gaming age, game a form of entertainment was enclosing to outdoor or indoor activities, in short (indoor & outdoor) sports were the only kind of games out there. The demise of Adobe Flash for mobile devices came as a surprise and reeling flash developers and mobile device vendors alike(source). Flash enjoyed almost unchallenged supremacy as multimedia platform since its macromedia days up until Apple’s iPhone came to life. Apple’s iPad is predicted to rule throughout 2011 and better half of 2012, which happens to be most promising mobile/tablet platform as of now. So as you can see it’s a great time to crack on to some iOS application right about now.
